Ed Cooke is best known as Fryeburg’s “Mr. Twister Pretzel Guy,” but for Keegan Cooke, he is also a father, an artist, and an inspiration. For twenty-one years, Ed has run his small business out of a booth at the Fryeburg Fair, “the most intense week of my year.” Lately, his son Keegan has come up from Brooklyn to help his father manage the fair. In the off-season, Ed builds his post-and-beam house in rural Brownsville, and Keegan returns to Brooklyn, where he runs a small screenprinting business and drums in his indie rock band. Father and son make a life working with their hands, “just doing the same thing in different places.”
